廌又名獅家、麒麟，相傳是中國上古時候的一種神獸。牠身形如馬，表皮有鱗甲,而最特別的是牠頭上有一隻獨角。《說文》云:「廌解廌獸也，似牛，一角。古者決訟，令觸不直者。」《神異經》也記載:「東北荒中有獸，見人鬥則觸不直。聞人論則咋不正，名日獬豸。」《論衡》亦日 :「獬豸者，一角之羊。性識有罪，皋陶治獄，有罪者令羊觸之。」因此，生性中規中矩的廌處世含仁懷義，除了象徵祥瑞之氣，亦有代表公平、正義之意象。

Kirin Was known as an ancient Chinese beast. Its body resembles a horse with Scaly appearance. As a unicorn, its unique feature is a Sole horn. The horn Was used to hit the loser." The other Canon, meant to include the unusual, also has it, "In north-eastern provinces, there is a beast. Seeing people in Combat, it will hit the unjust. Hearing people in quarrel, it will bite the incorrect. Its name is called kirin." Yet a canon, Written to balance inquiries, als 0 Says, "Kirin is a one-horn goat. By nature, it can identify the sinner. In ancient time, the God of Jailers had the goat to hit the sinner. " Therefore, kirinasalaw-abiding beast that harbors benevolence in dealing with the World. It symbolizes auspicious atmosphere, it also represents images of the just and upright."
